Life at Reali: Q&A with L.A. Field Expert Eric Volkers

February 6, 2019

Reali Field Experts have the perfect mix of real estate and people skills. They are customer-centric, go-to members of our team on the ground in every local market Reali serves. For Eric Volkers, being a Field Expert in L.A. is everything. And you could say that there is no role more important than that of a Field Expert at Reali. A naturally outgoing person, Eric is happy to represent Reali everywhere he goes. In this interview, he talks about what drives him, what a typical day entails, and even reveals what’s on his playlist.

Q. Let’s start at the beginning. Where are you from and how did you end up in L.A.?
A. I’m originally from Albany in Upstate New York and also lived in Queens and Manhattan. Shortly after my senior year of high school, I hopped on a bus (without any money) to pursue an acting career. I love the West Coast and cover almost all of Los Angeles, Orange County, and some of Ventura County for Reali. Most days you can find me on the Westside of L.A. in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Marina Del Rey, and Venice.

Q. So what were you doing before you joined Reali?
A. Before joining Reali, I worked in real estate marketing. Particularly for luxury new construction home builders, house flippers, and real estate tech companies in Los Angeles. I was also a conventional real estate agent for Remax for six months. Fun fact: I was also a film and commercial actor. Yes, really.

Q. How is Reali different than a traditional real estate agency?
A. Reali is different in so many ways. I love our team and high-energy culture. We’re a small group that’s building out innovative products. And we’re pioneering breakthrough tech for consumers that’s different than anything out there. We have an app plus real people like me who offer exceptional customer service on the ground for buyers and sellers. The best part: our licensed team offers speed and savings to buyers and sellers while upholding the highest possible standards and business practices. Everyone wins!

Q. Describe a typical day as a Reali Field Expert.
In a typical day, I work with home buyers to show them homes, meet with sellers to tell them more about Reali, and attend meetups and local events. I am the face of Reali in the field. My work is very fulfilling, and I love working with customers through the entire journey from beginning to end. Exchanging keys with a buyer is an amazing feeling.

Another critical component of my job is working with our back office in San Mateo. As soon as a customer requests a visit via the app, I’m available to meet them in hours to show them the home. Meeting with the customer in person is an opportunity to find out what they’re looking for and also to leave a lasting impression.

Q. What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is I get to be me. I also get to flex my skills and connect with people to give them a memorable experience they will never forget.

Q.When you’re on the road, what questions do you get from people?
People ask me, “What does Reali do?” so I explain our commission-free model and tell them about the app and cash back rebate. I also get a lot of comments about the Reali car because it turns a lot of heads. People have never heard of a real estate tech company, so they want to know more about how Reali works. Like, “Is it true you can download the app and get pre-approved and do all paperwork and place offers via the app?” Of course, the answer to all these questions is: Yes!

Q: What songs are on your playlist when you’re driving the Reali car? Be honest!
A: No lie, I’m still listening to Christmas music! But seriously, I also like listening to orchestra music and podcasts to improve my people skills.

Q. Using only emojis, summarize what it’s like working at Reali.
A. 💰💲🎉😊💯
